Škoda Auto increases profit, parent company Volkswagen faces steep decline

Carmaker Škoda Auto increased its operating profit by 8.5 percent last year, to 2.5 billion euros. Revenue rose to 30.1 billion euros from 27.8 billion euros in the previous year. The carmaker has grown into the sole significant bright spot within the struggling Volkswagen Group, which is reporting substantially unfavorable results. hnonline.sk ↗ ct24.ceskatelevize.cz ↗

The parent Volkswagen Group recorded considerably less optimistic figures. The group's profit plunged by nearly half last year, specifically by 44 percent, to 6.9 billion euros. Group revenue fell by 0.8 percent to almost 322 billion euros. The decline in the group's performance was caused by weak sales in key markets, particularly in China and North America, as well as additional costs linked to US tariffs. aktuality.sk ↗ teraz.sk ↗

There were also changes at the top of the group. Group chief Oliver Blume earned 7.4 million euros last year, yet his predecessor Herbert Diess remains the group's best-paid manager. Including pension contributions and the variable component, he earned 9 million euros. The contrasting development between Škoda Auto and the parent Volkswagen Group highlights significant differences in strategy and performance among the group's individual brands amid a complex global automotive environment. teraz.sk ↗ trend.sk ↗
