Hockey players of Kometa Brno defeated Mladá Boleslav 3:2 on home ice in a shootout in Round 7 of the Tipsport Extraliga. The Brno team lineup was missing young defensemen Filip Král and Stanislav Svozil, who remained out of the roster. isport.cz ↗
Their absence represented a significant disruption to the expected makeup of the team. Kometa coach Libor Zábranský decided not to include the two players in the game. Brno nevertheless managed to turn the course of the match around and took it all the way to the shootout.
Five goals were scored in regulation time. Kometa ultimately decided its victory in the shootout, where it used its trump and took two points. Mladá Boleslav took one point home from Brno.
The game also offered an unusual moment in the third period, when a fight broke out. This situation surprised even the winning team. Details about the penalties or the exact course of the conflict are not available. sport.cz ↗
The result strengthened the home team after a game in which it had to do without Král and Svozil. Further developments will show whether this was a one-off decision by the coach, or whether their role in Kometa's lineup will change in the coming rounds.
