Pope Leo XIV's visit sparks discussion about the Church's role in France
According to assessments, the visit left a significant mark on the French clergy. The Pope called on the Church to become more involved in social issues and to speak about them with "courage, firmness and gentleness." He emphasized the way the Church should present itself in the public sphere, especially within the context of secular France.
After returning from his visit to France, Leo XIV answered questions from 85 journalists during his flight to Rome. He addressed young Catholics, secularism, the risks of artificial intelligence, and the rise of the far right. His remarks thus extended the topic of the visit to internal social and political issues facing France and other European countries. Le Figaro ↗
