Working Men's Club return with the single Devout. Produced by Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails

Working Men's Club, originally a quartet, are returning under the leadership of their frontman Sydney Minsky Sergeant — and the surprise is the name behind the mixing desk. The new single Devout was produced by Atticus Ross, Trent Reznor's right-hand man in Nine Inch Nails and co-composer of their film scores. Mondo Sonoro ↗

The band debuted in 2020 with their self-titled album, released on October 2nd by the label Heavenly Recordings. Wikipedia ↗ It built on electronica and pop rock, searching for a sound somewhere between the present and the past. The album Fear Fear (2022) followed. Mondo Sonoro ↗

Devout is the first track since the group signed with the label Domino — meaning the first under the new label and with a new producer at the same time. According to Mondo Sonoro, it marks a new chapter for the band, with more news expected to come soon. Sergeant is at the same time the band's songwriter and vocalist, so the change is more about the surroundings of the sound than its core. Mondo Sonoro ↗

Atticus Ross, meanwhile, is a name that doesn't often appear in the context of the British guitar scene — with Trent Reznor he has an Oscar-winning film score to his name, and his style is more electronic than club-oriented. The collaboration with a band that builds on synthesizers and dance pulse thus makes more sense than it might seem at first glance. On SuperMusic.cz you can find the lyrics for the songs Tomorrow, White Rooms and People, and Golden.
