Investigation of mass entry into Ceuta focuses on Morocco's role

A Spanish court has launched a detailed investigation into the mass entry of migrants into Ceuta and stated that there are clear and indisputable traces indicating the event was orchestrated from Morocco. Judge María Tardón commended the work of the Spanish intelligence center Cenif and ruled that the case falls under the jurisdiction of the National Court.

The crisis is meanwhile increasing pressure on the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Parties to the left of the ruling Socialist Party openly attribute responsibility to Morocco and criticize Madrid's approach towards Rabat. A public opinion poll also showed that 90 percent of respondents consider Morocco guilty of the crisis, while almost 63 percent evaluated Sánchez's actions negatively.
