Korn have recorded drums for their new album. It will be the first without Fieldy

Korn have completed drums on their fifteenth studio album. This was inadvertently revealed by Mark Bennett, drum technician for drummer Ray Luzier, in a new video on the YouTube channel Drumeo: he talked about Luzier's kit and casually mentioned that "we just finished recording the new album". The band has not yet announced when the record will be released. Visions ↗

Korn released their last studio album "Requiem" in February 2022. Since then, fans have received only one new song — "Reward The Scars" came out this year in April along with an expansion for the video game Diablo IV. For the nu-metal band, such a break is atypical: never before has more than three years passed between their studio albums. Visions ↗

Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer explained in May why it's taking so long. According to him, the band wrote "definitely almost 40 songs", which they then simply discarded. "It's really a long process because we're very self-critical in what we do. We're such perfectionists because we want to keep our original sound. We can't get away from it anyway — when we start playing, it sounds like Korn, especially when we're all five of us there," Shaffer said. Visions ↗

The new album will also be the first without longtime bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu, who has been taking a break from the band since 2021. His place has since been taken by Roberto "Ra" Díaz from Suicidal Tendencies and according to Shaffer, he is also involved in writing new songs. The lineup that recorded the album is therefore different from the one that made the band famous with songs like "Freak On A Leash" or "Alone I Break". Visions ↗

In October and November, Korn will embark on a European tour during which they will perform six concerts in Germany — October 18 in Stuttgart, October 19 in Munich, October 21 in Cologne and in November in Hamburg, Hannover and Berlin. They will be preceded by Architects. The band has not confirmed whether anything from the new material will be heard on the tour. Visions ↗
