Kiss have their highest-charting album in more than a decade. They recorded it in 1976

Kiss returned to the top ten of the American album sales chart with a recording that was made fifty years ago. The live album KISS Destroys Anaheim '76 debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart, which is their highest placement in more than ten years — they last made it into the top ten with the album Monster from 2012, which reached number three. The concert took place on August 20, 1976 at a stadium in Anaheim, California during the Spirit of '76 tour. The band performed before over 42,000 people at the time, which was their largest audience to date. The album was released in 2026 for the fiftieth anniversary of this performance. Gene Simmons explained that the recording was never intended for release. "It was never supposed to come out live, but management recorded and captured it because it was the first time we took the stage at a stadium," he said. According to him, the recording allows younger generations to experience that moment: "If you weren't even born back then, you can be there, because the audience is part of it just as much as the performance itself." Simmons recalled how rapid the band's rise was at the time — shortly before they were barely scraping by and a year and a half later they were already headliners at a major stadium. The album features classics such as Detroit Rock City, Rock and Roll All Nite, and Strutter. American Songwriter ↗

Kiss ended their touring career in 2023 with a farewell performance at Madison Square Garden in New York. However, their catalog clearly continues to work, and it is their past that has now brought them chart success. American Songwriter ↗

On SuperMusic.cz, Kiss are among the most represented foreign bands — the database of lyrics and chords contains over six hundred of their songs, including all three tracks that appear on the Anaheim recording.
