The English entered the tournament with a win over Croatia, then drew with Ghana and closed out the group with a 2:0 win over Panama. Even before this match they had already secured qualification for the knockout stage, but the coach had to deal with defensive problems. Right-back Reece James felt health issues after the match against Ghana and was absent against Panama, and Declan Rice's absence from training also raised question marks. teraz.sk ↗
In the match against DR Congo, England came under pressure after conceding an early goal and failed to convert several chances for a long time. Tuchel spoke with all the players during both drinks breaks, which according to available information accompanied the late turnaround. Kane first equalized and then decided the match in the 86th minute, confirming his role as the team's key player. Sueddeutsche Zeitung ↗
England's next opponent will be Mexico. Tuchel warned that his players will not have enough time to adapt to the conditions at high altitude. England thus continues in the tournament having advanced, but also with open questions in defense and a heavy reliance on the form of its captain. sport.sk ↗
