Zelensky demands G7 response to Russia after strike on Lavra
Zelensky called on the leaders of the G7 to intensify pressure on Moscow following the new wave of Russian attacks. According to the Ukrainian president, Russia attacked Ukraine with nearly two thousand drones over the past week. Zelensky is set to attend the G7 summit in Évian, France, where talks with partners, including U.S. President Donald Trump, are expected. He had already spoken with Trump by phone on Sunday on the occasion of his birthday, discussing the war, peace, and diplomacy. SITA ↗
At the same time, Kyiv continues its attacks on Russian industrial and energy targets. Ukrainian drones struck facilities in the Yaroslavl and Tula regions, including fuel depots and a chemical plant. Zelensky also claims that Ukrainian intelligence services obtained documents intended for Vladimir Putin, which he says indicate growing dissatisfaction within Russia. ta3.com ↗
On the domestic political front, there has been no new development in the case of former presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak, whom anti-corruption bodies are investigating on money-laundering charges. Further developments here, together with military pressure, negotiations over Ukraine's EU accession, and tensions with Poland, could affect the stability of Zelensky's government. Die Zeit ↗
