Train on Ivanská cesta collided with a city bus. In December, a train also hit a car at the same crossing

Leo Express passenger train Os 4314 hit the rear section of an articulated city bus on route 63 at a level crossing on Ivanská cesta in Bratislava at 12:15 PM on Friday. Paramedics took a 34-year-old patient with a chest injury to the hospital in Ružinov, although the rail infrastructure manager ŽSR said shortly after the accident that it had been a minor contact with no injuries. The carrier claims that the crossing, which has no barriers, had a functioning light warning system. In December 2025, a train at the same crossing hit a car that had got stuck on the tracks. Hit on the rear section

Train Os 4314 runs on the Dunajská Streda – Bratislava main station route. Jozef Vozár, spokesperson for the Bratislava Public Transport Company, specified that the train hit the rear part of the bus's rear section. Conflicting initial information about the injury

Shortly after the accident, the Railways of the Slovak Republic (ŽSR) told TASR that, according to available information, it was a minor contact in which no one was injured and emergency services did not need to be called to the scene. Interez ↗

Police reported one injured person on the city bus and said an ambulance had been called. According to Leo Express spokesperson Emil Sedlařík, the collision occurred at an unprotected crossing without barriers, but with light signaling, "which, according to photographs taken at the scene, was working properly." According to him, neither the passengers nor the train crew were injured, while one bus passenger suffered minor injuries. Aktuality.sk ↗

The carrier also stated that the exact causes and circumstances of the collision are under investigation. After the accident, ŽSR announced an inspection of the technical condition of the crossing's safety equipment but did not publish the result, and police have not yet commented on whether the bus entered the crossing while the warning signal was active. A crossing with a known history

Last year, on the evening of December 16, a train collided with a car at the crossing on Ivanská cesta. According to police, the driver, while crossing in the direction of Trnavská cesta, drove onto the tracks, where the car became wedged, and managed to get out before the train arrived. That it is the same location follows from its position. Both in December and on Friday, police referred to a railway crossing on Ivanská cesta, and according to map data, this street has only one such crossing, near Trnavská cesta. The crossing has also undergone construction work. In August 2025, it was closed for reconstruction, together with the crossing on Vrakunská cesta, until August 25, and at the end of February 2026 it was closed again over a weekend for construction work, with a diversion for lines 63 and 163. The city is aware of the risk at this location. In May, the city council approved the purchase of land for the reconstruction of the neighboring Ivanská – Vrakunská – Trnavská intersection, which city hall spokesperson Peter Bubla described as long unsatisfactory, with an "increased occurrence of traffic collisions." The new traffic lights at the intersection are to be connected to the railway signaling system, which, according to the city, should eliminate risky situations where road and rail traffic intersect. A line with a fatal accident in April

Os 4314 runs on the Bratislava – Komárno line, where Leo Express provides regional passenger transport. In the first half of 2026, it carried nearly 1.54 million passengers on this line. TASR ↗

On the same line, on April 16, Leo Express train REX 1433 collided with a truck at a crossing in Dunajská Streda.
