Ukraine and satellite dependence — Starlink, Palantir and Russia's Rassvet

Ukraine's deep strikes inside Russia rest on Starlink, Palantir's software and drones from Eric Schmidt's company — that is, on three private American firms. The end of August showed how fragile that is: European media spent a whole day disagreeing over whether Musk had cleared Starlink for the strikes. Russia, meanwhile, failed to get its own replacement, Rassvet, into the planned orbit. We are tracking who clarifies the rules and whether the Russian network comes online.
