US President Donald Trump stated he should receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He justified this claim by citing efforts to end several conflicts, while also admitting that he is not sure whether the Nobel Committee will honor him. STVR (Minúta po minúte) ↗
Trump said he cannot predict the committee's decision. "I don't know how they'll decide," he said regarding the possibility that he might not receive the prize. He also noted that, in his view, the Nobel Prize is probably not awarded to people like him. svet.sme.sk ↗
The statements came at a time when the United States continues to wage war with Iran. The American administration has so far failed to negotiate a ceasefire even in the case of the war in Ukraine, although the United States also acts as a mediator on this issue. kultura.pravda.sk ↗
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate will be announced in Norway. The decision is set to be made public the following day. Experts point out that regardless of the winner's name, the outcome could spark debate. Among the questions under consideration will be the extent to which Trump's diplomatic initiatives can be considered successful in a situation where the conflict with Iran continues. NOS ↗
Trump's candidacy thus remains tied to his own conviction that his efforts to end conflicts deserve international recognition. However, the final decision rests with the Nobel Committee. Refresher.sk ↗
