Paris DJ Tatyana Jane recorded a mix for FADER. Skrillex taught her at his own home
The mix that Paris DJ Tatyana Jane recorded for FADER magazine is an hour-long sprint at full throttle. It follows her EP Discordia, released in June on Ed Banger Records — six tracks of sharp production on which she shows how she can blend French touch, the filtered French house of the late nineties made famous by names like Daft Punk, with sounds from across the global dance scene. That result is no surprise once you know where she trained: according to FADER, she was tutored at his own home by Skrillex himself. With him, she then played a major b2b set at Berghain in Berlin, performed at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, and appeared on the lineups of major festivals including Turin's Kappa FuturFestival. She credits much of her rise to the level and diversity of the Paris electronic scene. "Constantly getting booked for very specific and varied parties challenges me and pushes me to improve," she told FADER. "The underground is demanding, you have to prove yourself." The FADER ↗
By her own account, DJing came out of simply going to clubs. She started producing music at sixteen, and after moving to Paris she discovered the club scene; the deciding moment came when she saw Brodinski talking about DJing on television. She played her first set in 2019 at the Paris restaurant Chez Brongniart during Fête de la Musique. The FADER ↗
For the mix itself, she packed in an hour of high-energy selections — from her own unreleased material to the neon collaboration between Sampha and SBTRKT. The second half also features a mischievous remix of Lil Wayne's track A Milli. The FADER ↗
