Enric Mas kept the red jersey of the leader in the penultimate, 20th stage of the Vuelta a España and is heading toward overall victory. The Spanish cyclist handled the demanding route from Calahorra to the top of Collado del Alguacil, which measured 187 kilometers and included five climbs with a total elevation gain of 4,849 meters. teraz.sk ↗
Mas controlled the attacks of his rivals, including Primož Roglič, and did not lose his lead during the decisive sections. After Saturday's queen stage, only Sunday's flat section finishing in Granada stands between him and overall victory. If nothing unexpected happens, the 31-year-old Movistar rider will achieve the greatest success of his career and win a Grand Tour race for the first time. Le Figaro ↗
The stage winner was Mikel Landa. The Spanish climber attacked approximately seven kilometers before the finish, broke away from his rivals, and secured his second stage victory at the Vuelta. He achieved his first triumph in this race eleven years ago. It was also his first victory in five years. El Pais ↗
Austrian Felix Gall is heading for a podium finish in the overall standings, having withstood his rivals' attacks and attempting an attack of his own near the end of the stage. Czech climber Jan Hirt finished sixth, his best placing in this year's race. Der Standard ↗
