Details of the performance remain secret, and the band has not yet commented on the announcement on their official profiles. Rolling Stone Italia ↗
An open secret that lasted nearly four months
What stands out most about Monday's announcement is mainly how long the wait was. Moderator Fiorello first spoke about the reunion on May 11 in his La Pennicanza show on Radio2: "Yesterday I met Ethan, the drummer, at the tennis Internazionali and he gave me the news: Måneskin are getting back together, the reunion will be at Sanremo 2027." ANSA ↗On July 3, De Martino himself admitted it during RAI's program schedule presentation in Ancona, in an ironic tone: "I don't know if they'll do a reunion, but they told me they have some kind of meeting at Sanremo, and it would very likely happen during festival week. I don't know." The definitive confirmation came only on August 31, in the form of a magazine cover with the phrase "Among guests Måneskin and international stars". Adnkronos ↗
The man sitting on both sides of the table
Italian media presented the announcement as De Martino's managerial success. Commentator Maria Francesca Troisi interprets it differently in the magazine Libero: according to her, it is a "classic Pulcinella's secret presented as a geopolitical triumph" and the key figure was not the moderator, but Fabrizio Ferraguzzo. Libero ↗That name is essential in this story because Ferraguzzo appears in it twice simultaneously. Since March 2, 2026, he is the music director of Sanremo 2027, making him De Martino's closest collaborator in assembling the program. Il Fatto Quotidiano ↗
At the same time, he is the founder of Exit Music Management agency, which represents Måneskin. He is the same person behind the song "Zitti e buoni" — the song with which the band won both Sanremo and Eurovision. Previously he was an A&R manager at Sony Music Italy and from 2014 to 2020 was the music director of the Italian X Factor; since January 2024 he is a member of the Recording Academy, which awards Grammy Awards. In other words: the festival invited a band represented by its own music director. This is not a breach of rules and such connections are not unusual in the entertainment industry. However, it is information that helps explain why the reunion was known about for months before official admission and why it was announced by the festival rather than the band — and why it receives coverage precisely from the Italian commentary press.
What actually came out of the break
The phrasing "for one evening" is not a detail but the heart of the matter. Måneskin did not break up — after finishing their world tour for the album Rush! in summer 2024, they took a break and each went off to do their own thing. Rolling Stone ↗The singer was most successful. Damiano David released his solo debut on May 16, 2025 Funny Little Fears, preceded by singles Silverlines and Born with a Broken Heart, and toured it across Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. Guitarist Thomas Raggi released his debut on December 5, 2025 Masquerade, produced by Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine — they had already collaborated on Måneskin's "GOSSIP" from 2023. The album also featured contributions from Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian, Matt Sorum, former Guns N' Roses drummer, or Luke Spiller from The Struts. NME ↗
Bassist Victoria De Angelis moved towards dance music — in 2024 she released a single with Brazilian singer Anitta and started a DJ career. There is nothing public yet about drummer Ethan Torchia's solo plans.
So four people are coming together, three of whom have launched their own careers. This is why it's worth reading the announcement literally: it speaks of a guest appearance, not a return.

The song that started it all. "Zitti e buoni" won Sanremo in February 2021 and three months later also Eurovision.
Why this is news for Slovak readers too
Måneskin are not a random Italian band in our country. They are the winners of Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam, where they scored 524 points and first place — a competition that has a regular audience in Slovakia and the Czech Republic — unlike the Italian music scene as such. Eurovision ↗Their victory was then read as the return of guitar music to the mainstream and the band became one of the most visible Italian music exports in recent years. This is precisely why their reuniting for one night is more interesting than a routine festival announcement: it is a test of whether that story still interests anyone, or whether it has meanwhile broken down into four separate careers.
