Sparta's hockey players lost the rescheduled Round 9 extraliga match to Kometa Brno 3:4 in overtime. Before 12,193 spectators, the Prague side erased a two-goal deficit late in regulation time, but did not manage to secure the win. Kometa decided the match at 61:44. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
Sparta thus lost their fourth game out of the last five. Their home record remains unfavorable, and even against a traditional rival they did not produce a performance that would signal a significant turnaround in the season so far. Although the Prague side sent 47 shots at the opponent's goal, their dominance did not translate into a full points gain. idnes.cz ↗
The match offered several twists. Sparta managed to fight their way back into the game after an unfavorable turn of events and secured at least one point, but Kometa made use of the decisive opportunity in overtime. While the Brno team celebrated the victory, one of the key moments of the match turned out unfortunate for a home player. sport.cz ↗
Attention before the match was also drawn to the return of Aaron Irving to the Prague O2 arena. The defenseman, who previously played for Sparta, took the ice this time in Kometa's jersey. The clash of long-standing rivals once again confirmed the evenness of their head-to-head matches, while also deepening the uncertainty surrounding Sparta's current form. denik.cz ↗
The Prague side will need to improve primarily their home results and their conversion of game dominance. Kometa, on the other hand, took home two points for their overtime win. denik.cz ↗
