Iranian missile kills for the first time in the West Bank: three women died in a hair salon before the Eid holiday
Videos
Three Palestinian women died on Wednesday evening in a hair salon in the village of Beit Awwa near Hebron in the West Bank of the Jordan River, when they were struck by fragments of an Iranian ballistic missile with cluster munitions. Another 13 people were injured. These are the first Palestinian victims of Iranian attacks in this conflict — and the first time an Iranian missile has killed in the occupied West Bank. Al Jazeera ↗
The hair salon was full of customers preparing for the holiday on the eve of Eid al-Fitr — the celebration marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. The Israeli army confirmed that an Iranian missile aimed at Israel, which deviated from its trajectory, was responsible for the impact. The Palestinian Authority condemned the incident and called on Iran to "stop firing over the heads of Palestinians." NPR ↗
The incident reveals the tragic irony of the conflict — Iran officially presents itself as the protector of the Palestinian cause, yet its missiles are now killing Palestinians themselves. The West Bank lies between Iranian missile trajectories and Israeli targets. Since the start of the war, there have been several reported instances of debris falling in the West Bank, but without fatalities. Analysts warn that as the escalation continues, the risk of further casualties among the Palestinian civilian population is increasing. Al Jazeera ↗
