Železnice Slovenskej republiky have announced preventive measures, which also include reducing train speeds on selected sections. According to the railways, safety remains a priority, since extreme temperatures can affect both infrastructure and operations. The measures are meant to reduce the risks associated with heat waves and ensure that transport continues in as safe a mode as possible. STVR (Spravy) ↗

Carriers are also advising passengers to check the current traffic situation before travelling and to allow extra time. When travelling by train, they should carry enough water and light refreshments. Heat warnings can therefore mean not only reduced comfort on trains but also changes to the smoothness of connections.

Further developments will depend on the duration of the heat wave and its impact on tracks, technical equipment, and air conditioning systems. According to available information, the railways will continue with preventive measures in order to minimize risks for both passengers and operations.
