OFI Crete opened the scoring in the 30th minute. It was scored by offensive player Aitor Cantalapiedra. The Greek side, which won the domestic cup last season, subsequently held on to their lead and added another goal in the second half. Hoffenheim failed to respond to the course of the match with a goal and took a 0:2 defeat away from Crete. Deutschlandfunk ↗

For the German club, this marks an unsuccessful start to the new European cup season. OFI Crete, on the other hand, recorded a valuable win against a Bundesliga opponent and picked up important points in the league phase of the competition. Hoffenheim will need to improve their attacking play in particular in the coming matches to make up for this opening stumble. sport.sk ↗
