The Finnish Ice Hockey Association declared that its national teams will not play against Russia. Norway and Sweden subsequently joined Finland's position. Denmark also joined the boycott. teraz.sk ↗

The arbitration court's decision concerns the return of Russian teams to top international events. The restoration of membership is set to begin with the World Junior Championship, which will take place in the near future. However, the return of Russian national teams has already provoked opposition from several hockey nations. ekonomika.pravda.sk ↗

The boycott could complicate the organization of future tournaments and create pressure on the International Ice Hockey Federation. It is not yet clear how the federation will respond to the refusal of several associations to play against Russia, nor what impact this stance will have on the composition of matches at the World Championship.
