According to available information, the aircraft accelerated unusually slowly during the takeoff run, stirred up dust beyond the end of the runway, and according to released videos, vibrations were felt in the cabin. Following the incident, damage to the landing gear and tail section of the fuselage was reported. Several reports describe the incident as a very close call that could have ended in a serious accident. novinky.cz ↗

The cause of the late takeoff is not yet clear. Speculation emerged whether the brakes might have been mistakenly activated during takeoff, however, the investigation is continuing and definitive conclusions have not yet been announced. The incident concerns an aircraft of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner type, which was to remain out of further service after its return for inspection and repair. Tagesspiegel ↗

The consequences also manifested on Monday, when Vietnam Airlines passengers had to reckon with a significant delay of another flight. Further developments will depend on the results of the investigation and technical assessment of the damaged aircraft. Die Zeit ↗
