The album In Moll by Markus Guentner will be released in a new edition for its twenty-fifth anniversary. It originally emerged during the formative years of Kompakt's long-running Pop Ambient series, whose co-founder Wolfgang Voigt described it as "an inseparable, timeless part of the long history of pop ambient." The recording was newly remastered by composer and mastering engineer Rafael Anton Irisarri. "It immediately opened the door for me to a world of music I didn't know existed," he says of it. "Markus showed me completely new possibilities of what electronic music can communicate." The new release also brings visual elements that Guentner created when returning to the album after twenty-five years, as well as the track In Moll 4 — which will appear on vinyl for the first time, having been omitted from the original vinyl release. The Pop Ambient series, which Cologne's Kompakt has been releasing since 2001, is among the longest-running ambient compilations in Europe, and In Moll came out exactly as its aesthetic was taking shape. Guentner has since also released on the labels A Strangely Isolated Place and Ventil.
