Calgary Flames Lose Season Opener to Seattle 1:6

Calgary Flames started the new NHL season with a heavy home defeat. At Scotiabank Saddledome, they fell to Seattle Kraken 1:6. Slovak hockey players Šimon Nemec, Martin Pospíšil and Samuel Honzek also took to the ice for the Canadian team. sport.sk ↗

It was Nemec's debut for Calgary. Despite the unfavorable result, the Slovak defenseman was among the team's best players and tried to support Flames' offense during the game. However, his individual performance could not prevent the significant defeat. dennikn.sk ↗

In the opening game of the new season, Calgary failed to effectively respond to the visitors' activity. Seattle built up a significant lead, and the home team ultimately conceded six goals. Flames' only goal was not enough to turn the course of the match around.

Honzek also made his mark in the game, getting involved in several dangerous chances. The Slovak players contributed to Calgary's effort to improve their performance, but Kraken held onto their lead until the final siren. Pospíšil was part of the Slovak trio in the home side's lineup. sport.sk ↗

Calgary thus began the season unfavorably, and in upcoming games will need to improve especially their defensive play and conversion of created chances. Nemec, Pospíšil and Honzek will get the opportunity to respond to the opening setback in the NHL's following schedule.
