Autechre are coming to Italy twice in October, both at ROBOT Festival and Alcatraz
The duo, which has been pushing the boundaries of contemporary techno avant-garde for over three decades, will appear in Italy twice in a row at the start of autumn. Autechre will perform on Saturday, October 10 at the Estragon club in Bologna as part of the ROBOT festival, and the very next day, on Sunday, October 11, once again — this time at Alcatraz in Milan. Sean Booth and Rob Brown have had an intense touring year in 2025, with several sold-out dates. In 2026 they returned to the stage in February in Japan, and between September and October they are undertaking a new European tour, which also includes the biggest headline show of their career, planned in London. They have been active since 1987, and over nearly forty years have built one of the most radical trajectories in contemporary electronic music. Their sonic exploration has moved from techno, electro and hip-hop roots to the increasingly experimental compositions of their later period. Kalporz ↗
For a listener accustomed to club electronic music, Autechre are a peculiar case: their concerts are played in darkness and without visuals, so all that remains of the event is the sound. That's precisely why they are spoken of more as composers than as DJs.
