Iron Maiden are releasing a vinyl box set for the band's fiftieth anniversary featuring nine studio albums from 1980 to 1992. It's called 50th Anniversary Studio Album Collection, Part One: 1980 – 1992 and the designation "Part One" suggests the collection could continue with another part. The albums will feature colored vinyl, remasters from 2015, and specially designed packaging. Consequence ↗

The color scheme is divided by albums: the debut Iron Maiden will be red-gold, Killers red, The Number of the Beast silver, Piece of Mind yellow, Powerslave gold, Somewhere in Time oxblood, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son white, No Prayer for the Dying olive, and Fear of the Dark blue-yellow, spread across two records. The box comes out December 11, 2026. Consequence ↗

A week earlier, on December 4, a separate edition of Somewhere in Time will also come out on the occasion of its own fortieth anniversary — likewise on oxblood vinyl. Consequence ↗

The band was formed in 1975 in London's Leyton, founded by bassist and main songwriter Steve Harris. The debut album arrived five years later, and these first nine albums make up the repertoire of the current Run For Your Lives tour: the band builds a seventeen-song set exclusively from them. Megadeth accompanies them on the North American leg, and Anthrax on selected dates. Loudwire ↗

The jubilee year will bring the band one more milestone — though they'll miss it. Iron Maiden will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles on November 14, but they won't attend the ceremony: they'll be playing in Australia at that time, and when they accepted the induction, they made clear to the hall of fame that fans come first and concerts will go on. After the tour, they're planning to take the entire year 2027 off from the stage. Loudwire ↗

For Slovak and Czech fans, it's interesting to see what from Iron Maiden truly resonates with us. On SuperMusic.cz, most songs have multiple versions — chords, tabs, lyrics and translations — and when their views across the entire website history are counted, Fear of the Dark leads by a large margin with over 130,000. Run to the Hills follows with over 51,000, and 2 Minutes to Midnight and Aces High from Powerslave also rank high. Seven of the ten most-searched songs come from albums the box contains — it therefore covers precisely the period to which local fans most often return.

The remaining three are, however, telling: they are Brave New World and The Wicker Man from the 2000 album Brave New World and Dance of Death from 2003. They didn't make the top nine, and the band hasn't yet said whether they'll be included in the next part of the collection.
