The first conceded goal came after a shot by Corentin Tolisso, which goalkeeper Surovčík parried in front of him and Nuamah finished the ball into the net. Priske stated after the match that the team failed to handle the entire action before the goal. Martin Suchomel was involved in the second goal, as the opponent developed an attack through him, finished with Tolisso's pass in front of an empty goal. The match was also affected by Ševínský's red card, which provoked different reactions from Sparta's players and the French environment. idnes.cz ↗

The elimination has financial consequences for Sparta. According to available information, the club lost 100 million crowns for advancing past Lyon and simultaneously lost the chance for a significantly higher reward for participation in the main phase of the Champions League. Priske spoke after the match about disappointment, pressure, and the need to continue working. The club is also addressing squad changes, including the expected departure of Lukáš Haraslín. denik.cz ↗

Hradec Králové meanwhile remains in a difficult position after the opening match of the third qualifying round of the Europa League following a 0:1 home defeat to Besiktas. The Votroci kept the favourite at bay for a long time, failed to convert chances and even wasted a numerical advantage, conceding only in the closing stages. The return match will determine whether the Czech club, after returning to Europe after 31 years, maintains hope of continuing in the competition. zpravy.aktualne.cz ↗
