The Valorant video game championship takes place from September 24 to October 18 in Shanghai, and as every year, it is accompanied by an official anthem. This time it was performed by Oliver Sykes of Bring Me the Horizon and Courtney LaPlante, frontwoman of Spiritbox — the track is called If the Sun Burns Out Tonight. Visions ↗
The song drives electronic elements and was produced by Grabbitz together with Sykes. The metalcore giants from Sheffield were announced earlier this week as headliners of another event, and in a few days their European tour begins as well, with five stops in Germany. Visions ↗
On SuperMusic.cz, Bring Me the Horizon have one hundred nine entries. Spiritbox and Grabbitz had until now been without a single song — they have now gained lyrics, from Spiritbox Holy Roller, Circle With Me and Constance, from Grabbitz Here With You Now, Die For You and Way Too Deep.
Official anthems for esports championships have become a category of releases in their own right in recent years: they get full-fledged videos, are streamed outside the gaming audience, and for rock bands they are one of the few ways to reach listeners who don't normally listen to metalcore.
