Desertfest Berlin has announced the first wave of bands for its fifteenth edition. The festival will take place from May 14 to 16, 2027 at the Columbia-Gelände in Berlin, and the first confirmed headliners are Melvins and Hällas. Visions ↗
Melvins have been blending punk, doom, and sludge into a sound with no equal for more than forty years. Hällas is a Swedish hard rock band that has built its own cosmos of fantasy stories and synthesizers across four albums. The German branch of Desertfest has been running for fifteen years now and, according to Visions, actively helps expand the scene — which is why, alongside established names, the lineup also includes newcomers. On SuperMusic.cz, Melvins have two hundred and sixty-nine songs including tabs — one of the most extensive catalogs in the genre. Hällas have also been added there, and the lyrics for Star Rider, The Astral Seer, and The Golden City of Semyra are already available.
Desertfest operates as a network of festivals with branches in London, Antwerp, New York, and Berlin, and the Berlin edition focuses on stoner rock, doom, and sludge. The first wave is usually only a fraction of the lineup — more names will be added continuously until spring.
