American band Greta Van Fleet released the single "Tear It Down" — the third preview from their fourth studio album Palace For The People, which comes out on October 9 under Republic Records. The quartet from Frankenmuth, Michigan — the Kiszka brothers (Josh on vocals, Jake on guitar, and Sam on bass and keyboards) together with drummer Danny Wagner — are once again stepping on the gas. The new track combines their usual classic-rock-rooted guitar onslaught with a more introspective, lyrical dimension; the theme revolves around individual disorientation in the face of sensory overload. Since their 2017 debut, Greta Van Fleet have never shaken off comparisons to Led Zeppelin — Josh's high voice and Jake's riff vocabulary practically invite them. The band has never denied it, but on their last two albums they've been consciously moving toward a language of their own: more keyboards, more space, less literalness. According to the announcement, Palace For The People is meant to be their most cohesive attempt at this shift so far.
The album was recorded in spring 2026 in a remote log cabin in Tennessee and finished in the studio with co-producer Mike Elizondo, known for his work with Turnstile, Fiona Apple, and Dr. Dre; according to the announcement, it is meant to expand their hard-rock foundations toward airier and more symphonic solutions. "The artist's function is to offer what the universe cannot," said singer Josh Kiszka about it. "We wanted to make a record that embodies adventure, passion, brutality, beauty, sex, and imagination." The band has a Grammy for Best Rock Album (From the Fires, 2019) under their belt and sold-out arenas on both sides of the Atlantic. Palace For The People arrives three years after Starcatcher.
