The new season of the Niké League football competition for 2026/2027 will begin during the final weekend of July. Newcomer Banská Bystrica will enter the competition with a home match against the reigning eight-time champion Slovan Bratislava. sport.pravda.sk ↗
The schedule for the first round confirms the traditional model, according to which the champion plays at the newcomer's ground. Banská Bystrica will thus return to the elite right at the start with a duel against the strongest Slovak club of recent years. After two years, all clubs in the top competition will once again play at their own stadiums. SITA ↗
Runner-up Dunajská Streda will begin the new season away at Ružomberok. Spartak Trnava, which finished third in the previous season, will host Skalica at home. Meanwhile, other clubs are gradually opening preparations for the new season, with Trenčín having already begun the training process under the leadership of Ricardo Moniz. teraz.sk ↗
Personnel changes are also continuing in the league. Komárno confirmed that coach Czibor will continue, having taken over the team temporarily after the departure of Mikuláš Radványi. Michalovce lost Spanish midfielder Samuel Ramos, whose contract expired and who did not sign a new one. The coming weeks will therefore bring further squad assembly ahead of the start of the season, in which Banská Bystrica's return will be among the storylines to watch in the opening round. teraz.sk ↗
