Klopp surprised with an extensive selection, which includes 16 players without a single international cap. Possible debutants include, for example, Mika Baur, Vitaly Janelt, Keidel, and Engelhardt. On the other hand, fan favorites Deniz Undav and Leroy Sané are missing from the nomination. WDR Nachrichten ↗

For now, the number one goalkeeper spot will go to Marc-André ter Stegen, who is set to return to the national team after a long absence. Klopp also indicated that this decision may not be permanent. Noah Urbig was given the chance to pursue his international debut. Oliver Baumann was left out of the nomination, and the coach explained the reasons behind his decision. n-tv ↗

Besides the sporting side, when announcing the squad Klopp also spoke about national self-confidence and the social atmosphere in Germany. He called for positive patriotism and said he wants to "reclaim" the German flag for all citizens, rather than leaving it to political groups. n-tv ↗

The extensive nomination is meant to allow Klopp to try out a large number of players during the first four matches. After the opening two games, he plans to significantly change the lineup, which will give other members of the broader squad an opportunity. isport.cz ↗
